​Seeking Asylum in Ireland emerged during my artist residency in Galway. Living on the Mexican borderlands and carrying chronic pain and ongoing grief, I came to Ireland not to escape my life, but to find temporary refuge within it. Galway offered a rhythm that made space for slowness, observation, and quiet joy—an intentional contrast to the constant urgency, environmental injustice, and emotional weight of borderland living. Through collage, shadow boxes, and art journaling, this work documents what it means to be held by a place of peace, even briefly.
